TREATMENT OF CEREBRAL CYSTICERCOSIS WITH PRAZIQUANTEL

Abstract

Sixty-seven cases with cerebral cysticercosis were treated with a single dose of praziquantel 180-240mg/kg. Among the 67 cases, 50 were Jollowed up for 6 months. Remarkable improvement was achieved in 43 of the 50 cases, and the disappearance of the symptoms was also observed in some cases. The results showed that the curative effect of orally administered praziquantel is notable and the diagnostic criteria, curative effect, factors influencing the curative effect as well as the cautions during treatment were discussed.
