Clinical analysis of 119 cases of cerebral infarction complicated with type II diabetes in islanders

Objective To investigate the clinical features of cerebral infarction complicated with type Ⅱ diabetes in islanders.Methods In the present study,subjects were neurological patients admitted to the medical wards of our hospital from November 2007 to November 2008.A total of 512 cases of cerebral infarction were confirmed via CT and / or MRI.Of all the cases,119 were cerebral infarction patients complicated with type Ⅱ diabetes.393 cases chosen as control were cerebral infarction patients with normal blood glucose admitted during the same period of time.Results The diabetes patient group accounted for 23.2% of all the cases.Incidence of hypertension complication for this group was significantly higher than that of the control group(P < 0.01 );Multifocal infarction and the proportion of large infarction were also obviously higher than those of the control group(P <0.05)and the proportion of lacunar infarction for the 2 groups was significantly higher than that of other infarction type;Prognosis for the diabetic group was worse( P <0.01 ).Conclusions Diabetes is one of the important risk factors for cerebral infarction.
