Clinical value of ambroxol combined with procaterol hydrochloride on senile pneumonia

Abstract

Objective To study the effect of ambroxol combined with procaterol hydrochloride on Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia (PCP). Methods Thirty-two senile patients with pneumonia from June 2012 to June 2015 were selected as the research objects, and they were randomly divided into control group and observation group, with 16 cases in each group. Both groups were treated with procaterol hydrochloride 2.0 g for intravenous drip; on this basis, the control group was given low dose of ambroxol and the observation group was treated with ambroxol. The symptoms disappear time before and after treatment, the oxygen partial pressure and oxygenation index were compared. Results After treatment, the related symptoms disappear time in observation group was significantly shorter than that in the control group; the oxygen partial pressure and oxygen index in observation group were significantly higher than that in control group, PO2, PCO2 and WBC of elderly patients after treatment of the two groups were significantly better than before treatment, and in the observation group therapy, the levels of PO2 [(80.30±9.26) mmHg, 1 mmHg=0.133 kPa], PCO2 [(45.53±4.27) mmHg ]and WBC[ (8.85±3.62) ×109/L]were significantly better than those of the control group [PO2 (70.33±875) mmHg, PCO2 (51.61±5.40) mmHg and WBC (10.81±4.00)×109/L], the differences were significant(P<0.05). Conclusions Compared with low dose of ambroxol hydrochloride, ambroxol combined with procaterol hydrochloride has good effect on Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia .
