Abstract
Objective To study the curative effects of ethinylestradiol cyproterone acetate (Diane-35) combined with insulin sensitizer metformin (MTF) on the clinical and biomedical manifestation for treating infertile patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) complicated with insulin resistance (IR).Methods A total of 78 patients with PCOS admitted to our hospital from July 2006 to February 2013 were randomly divided into treatment group and control group, with 39 cases in each group. The control group (n=39) was treated with Diane-35 and control weight for three months, the treatment group (n=39) was treated with Diane-35 combined with metformin and control weight for three months.Several clinical and biomedical indexes were recorded before and after the treatment and drug adverse reactions were also observed. Results After treatment the treatment group and the control group, clinical symptoms and biomedical indexes were significantly improved than those before treatment, there was no statistical significant differences in the two groups (P > 0.05); The treatment group and control group, fasting insulin and insulin resistance index were decreased (the treatment group FINS and HOMA-IR were (14.9 ± 3.5) mu/L and (1.5 ± 0.6)respectively; the control group FINS and HOMA-IR were (17.9 ± 5.7) mu/L and (2.9 ± 1.1) respectively, and the treatment group was lower than that of the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05); the pregnancy rate of treatment group (53.8%) was obviously higher than that of control group (25.6%),the difference between the two groups was statistically significant (P < 0.05).Conclusion Both Diane-35 alone or Diane-35 combined with metformin therapy can significantly improve several clinical and biomedical indexes of PCOS,but combined use of drugs can reduce insulin resistance and improve the pregnancy rate more effectively. Key words: Polycystic ovary syndrome; Insulin resistance; Metformin; Ethinylestradiol cyproterone acetate
