Abstract
Objective To observe the clinical effects of treating acute cerebral hemorrhage with Huoxuetongfulishui decoction. Methods A total of 46 patients with acute cerebral hemorrhage were randomly recruited into a control group and a treatment group, with 23 patients in each group. The control group was treated with conventional western medicine; the treatment group was treated with Huoxuetongfulishui decoction (which is composed of rhubarb, motherwort herb, giant knotweed rhizome, sanchi, leech, and earth worm) on the basis of the control group. Results The total effective rate was 91.31% and 75% in the treatment group and the control group respectively, showing statistical significance (χ2=5.78, P<0.05=. CT scan showed that fully hematoma absorption happened in 15 patients, absorption range >51% happened in 7patients, and zero hematoma absorption in 1 patient in the treatment group, contrasting to the number of 6, 9 and 3 in the control group respectively. There was statistical difference between the two groups (χ2=5.66, P<0.05=. Conclusion It was effective to treat cerebral hemorrhage with Huoxuetongfulishui decoction. Key words: Acute stage of cerebral hemorrhage; TCM therapy; Huoxuetongfulishui decoction
