How to effectively cultivate the clinical research capability of eight-year program medical students is a challenge in medical education. Based on the features of talent cultivation and eight-year program medical education, Peking University People's Hospital has established its unique clinical research training system for eight-year program medical students, in which the mentorship is adopted and the students start their clinical research training at the undergraduate stage. The system was initiated among the eight-year program medical students enrolled in 2016 and has achieved good effect. Totally 60 students who have participated in the mentor-led research projects and activities and many of them published research papers. According to investigation results, the system is highly recognized by both mentors and students. Therefore, the system could motivate students' interests and potential and improve their ability in scientific research.
