Abstract
Objective To investigate the treatment of recurrent pterygium. Methods Pterygium resection was peformed in 48 eyes of 48 cases with recurrent pterygium.During the surgery, mitomycin C was used and then the autologous stem cells of corneal limbus were transplanted. Results After 6 months, pterygium recurred in one eye among 48 eyes, and the recurring rate was 2.08%.There was no complication happening. Conclusion Autologous corneal limbus stem cells transplantation and mitomycin C combined with wide pterygium excision is effective for recurrent pterygium. Key words: Pterygium, recurrent ; Transplantation, stem cells, limbus, autologous ; Mitomycin C
