Intraocular lens implantation for complicated cataract because of uveitis.

Abstract

Objective To investigate the surgical management and effects in complicated cataract patients following uveitis.Methods 28 patients(28eyes) with complicated cataract after uveitis underwent cataract extraction and intraocular lens implantation.Preoperative and postoperative visual acuity was compared.The interoperative and postoperative complications were observed.Results Visual acuity improved in 26 eyes.10 eyes gained postoperative visual acuity 0.5 or better.10 eyes had 0.3-0.5,6 eyes had 0.1-0.3,2 eyes had less than 0.1.There were no severe complications during and after operation.Conclusion Cataract extraction combined with intraocular lens implantation provides a preferable approach in complicated cataract patients because of uveitis.
