The phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantation on patients of cataract complicated with uveitis

Abstract
Objective To evaluate the efficacy of phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantation on patients of cataract complicated with uveitis.Methods 68 cases (82 eyes) with cataract complicated with uveitis who had phacoemulsifcation and intraocular lens implantation from January 2005 to December 2011 were reviewed retrospectively.The postoperative visual outcomes and complications were analyzed.The follow-up time was 6 ～ 36 months.Results Best-corrected visual acuity(BCVA) was improved in 76 eyes (92.7％).At 1 week postoperative,the corrected visual acuity was equal to or better than 0.6 in 48 eyes (58.5％),0.3～0.5in22 eyes (26.8％),0.1～0.2 in8 eyes (9.8％),less than0.1 in4 eyes (4.9％).Complications were posterior capsular opacification in 21 eyes(25.6％),recurrence of uveitis in 9 eyes (10.9 ％),and macular edema in 6 eyes (7.3 ％).Conclusion The phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantation on patients of cataract complicated with uveitis can obtain good visual acuity.
