Abstract
Recently,because of its opening source and rich resource,Linux has become a preferred operating system(os) for many factories in developing embedded application,and is occupying a larger market.Xilinx Virtex-4 FPGAs is equipped with both power-pc-405 RISC microprocessor(with high performance,low cost) and FPGA(with high density and high performance),and has very good application prospect.The properties of powerpc-405 processor,Linux OS and SOPC are discussed as well as the development pro-cess on the special hardware platform including the hardware structure,developmental environment and tools Special emphasis is put on the parting Linux and building cross-compile environment.
