Abstract

Objective To investigate the relationship between serum levels of bilirubin non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(non-HDL-C) and coronary heart disease(CHD).Methods According to coronary arteriongraphy,120 patients with CHD(CHD group, including single stenosed branch subgroup, double stenosed branches subgroup, and three stenosed branches subgroup) and 106 healthy controls(healthy control group) were enrolled in the study.Serum total bilirubin(TBIL) and non-HDL-C were examined for all subjects, and then the results were compared and analyzed. Results The contents of serum TBIL,direct bilirubin(DBIL),indirect bilirubin(IBIL) and HDL-C were lower in CHD group than those of healthy control group(P0.05),while the levels of serum total cholesterol(TC),triglyeride(TG),low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C) and non-HDL-C in CHD group were significantly higher than those in healthy control group(P0.05).Moreover,with increasing of the stenosed branched number, the levels of TC,TG,LDL-C and non-HDL-C were significantly increased(P0.05),and the levels of TBIL,HDL-C were significantly decreased(P0.01).As linear correlation analysis indicated, the serum level of TBIL in CHD group was not substantially correlated with any of age,cholesterol,triglyceride,HDL-C,LDL-C and non-HDL-C(P0.05).Non-HDL-C was positively correlated with the content of cholesterol, triglyceride and LDL-C(P0.05),no correlative to the content of HDL-C(P0.05).Conclusion Declined serum bilirubin level may be used as an independent risk factor for coronary heart disease, and elevated non-HDL-C is closely associated with CHD.
