Abstract

Linear-sweep polarography was used in the present research to study the electrochemical behavior of chloramphenicol(CAP).In a supporting electrolyte containing 0.3 mol/LKCl(pH7.30),a reduction peak of chloramphenicol was observed at Hg electrode. The peak potential was -0.620 V(vs.SCE).The relationship between peak current and the concentration of CAP was linear in the rane of 1×10~(-7) mol/L~9×10~(-6) mol/L(r=0.9992). The detection limit was 5.0×10~(-8) mol/L.The method was applied to determination of chloramphenicol in urine sample and tablet with satisfactory results.
