Abstract

Objective:To evaluate the diagnostic efficacy of MRU in patients with upper urinary obstruction. Methods:MRU was carried out in 28 cases of ureterohydronephrosis detected by B-ultrasonography and intravenous urography. All the images were contrasted with pathologic diagnoses and surgical findings. Results:The ureteral shape could be clearly seen from various film of magnetic resonance hydrography and abnormal image changes of various diseases could be revealed clearly. The accurate diagnostic rates for location and qualitative identification were 100% and 88.6%,respectively.Conclusion:MRU would reveal important information which might not be detected by IVU and the technique is noninvasive with no need of contrast media. It is recommended for detecting the location of upper urinary tract obstruction.
