Abstract

Objective To observe the effect of two kinds of inlay to the type Ⅱ cavity of posterior teeth.MethodsTwo groups were divided randomly, one group with Ceramage inlay, the other with metal inlay. The restorations was examined after two years to evaluate clinical effects.ResultsAt two years, statistical analysis showed significant differences between the two techniques in the retention of restorations.Restorations in Ceramage inlay were successful during this period in preventing marginal fracture and secondary caries(P≤0.05).ConclusionCeramage inlay restorations were clinically successful in metal inlay over two years. It is concluded that Ceramage inlay indirect repair with tooth structure can partly restore the strength and rigidity lost by the cavity preparation. This may lead to a reduction in the incidence of tooth fracture due to fatigue.
