Clinical evaluation of polymer-ceramic inlay

Abstract

Objective To clinically evaluate the effects of polymer-ceramic Ceramage(Shofu Inc.,Japan) inlay.Methods The integrity,marginal fitness,gingival health and color of teeth from 185 patients whose teeth restored with Ceramage inlay were evaluated 6,12,18 months after restoration respectively.Results In all inlay restoration,fractured inlay was found after 3 months in one case,and deposition of inlay occurred in five cases after 3-6 months.With regards to marginal gingival health,almost all restorations can achieve to clinical requirement.In about 55% inlays both dentists and patients were satisfied with the color,while both sides were not satisfied with about 20% prosthesis,but on the other 25% restorations the patients and the dentists could not come to an agreements.Conclusion The Ceramage inlays could meet the clinical requirement,but the skill need improve in repairing non-vital pulp discolored teeth.
