Analysis of blood culture's clinical significance in inpatients with fever

Objective To investigate the delivered rate and positive rate of blood culture from our hospital's inpatients with fever.Method Bacteria in blood was cultured with Bactec 9120 and isolates were identified with VITEIC-2 automertde microbial identification. Results Among 133 inpatients with fever,delivered rate was 24.8%,and 5 strains were cultured bacteria,which was 3.8%,there were 2 strains were Gram-positive bacteria(40%),3 strains were Gram-negative bacteria(60%). Conclusions The delivered rate and positive rate were lower.Clinical department should pay the attention to blood cultures in patients with fever.
