An Analysis Of Archetypal Characters And Situations In ‘Beautiful Creatures’ Novel

The aim of this research entitled “An Analysis of Archetypal Character and situations in ‘Beautiful Creatures’ Novel” was to find out the characters and situations based on archetypal perspective. The primary data were taken from “Beautiful Creatures” novel (2009) by Kami Garcia and Margareth Stolh. By using qualitative as the approach of this study, the data and the result of the analysis were presented descriptively in the essay forms. The research combines two theories of archetypal, the characters Archetype theory by Pearson (1991) and the situational archetype by Jung in Dobie (2012), to accomplish the goals of the study. As the result of this study, it was found some of the archetypal characters which are the seeker, the sage, the caregiver, the lover, and the innocent while the archetypal situations are the quest, initiation, and death and rebirth. This study might be useful for those who are interested in conducting a study on characters and situations through archetypal of literary criticism.
