What's going on in NSW

In common with the other states, ASA in NSW is now running a monthly Investors' Forum, without the participation of ASX following the latter's withdrawal from the Investor Hour program. We have moved back to our previous meeting venue at the Mitchell Theatre in the Sydney Mechanic's School of Arts at 280 Pitt Street in the city. This has proved to be a successful location in the past, being only a stone's throw from Town Hall station. In order to secure room bookings for the remainder of 2012, it has been necessary to change our regular meeting day to the third Tuesday in each month, at least for the rest of this year. To date we have held two meetings under the new arrangements. In July, Professor Peter Swan from The Australian School of Business at the University of NSW spoke about the relationship between company board structures and performance (a big board is not necessarily best).
