Abstract
The present study is taken up with the objective of knowing the socio economic characteristics of paddy famers who take up fish farming in Nalgonda district which is the largest producer of inland fish and prawns over the past few years. The study also identified the marketing channels of the fish and prawn market, constraints faced by the farmers also suggested that if the farmers were given the right training in the areas they are lacking and if the importance value addition in fish is explained to them providing the logistic support, the fishery sector will be the fastest growing sector in Bangaru Telangana.
