The essence and present-day state of the system of generally obligatory state social insurance in Zhytomyr region have been considered, its role in the system of social security of rural population has been determined, the level of payments for social insurance has been analyzed as well as the necessity of its improvement has been grounded. Розглянуто суть та сучасний стан системи загальнообов’язкового державного соціального страхування в Житомирській області, визначено її роль в системі соціального захисту сільського населення проаналізовано рівень виплат на соціальне страхування таобґрунтовано необхідність його удосконалення.
