Abstract
My homeless experience coincided with the time in which I pursued study. I was one of the lucky ones who were initially able to couch surf, squat and share rooms for the first half a dozen years of my homeless experience. I had left school after year ten on a teenage mission to change or destroy the sick world that had treated me so horribly. So I decided I was going to go to university, but before that I needed to complete a year of Tertiary Orientation Program. The product of a bitter alcoholic and a woman struggling with the demons in her mind, I had witnessed how the system had chewed up and spat out my parents and I swore that I would never end up like them. I was an inquisitive and curious little so and so and l wanted to make a difference.
