Abstract

Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz was born on July 1, 1646, in Leipzig, Germany, the heart of the Lutheran reformation. Three days later, his father Friedrich reported that the infant miraculously raised his head at his baptism and gazed at the pastor, seeming to acknowledge the holy water as it fell on his pristine head.
