Abstract
OBJECTIVE:To investigate the destructive effect of baicalin and baicalein on the formation of pseudomonas aeruginosa biofilm.METHODS:X140,a pseudomonas aeruginosa, was selected for investigation. After the biofilm was treated by baicalin or baicalein with the concentration of 32 μg·mL-1 and 2 μg·mL-1,the numbers of viable bacteria were measured by serial dilution using azithromycin as control. The variations were observed under scanning electronic microscope(SEM).RESULTS:Both of the baicalin and baicalein with the concentration of 32 μg·mL-1 and 2 μg·mL-1 could inhibit the adherence of pseudomonas aeruginosa significantly and the formation of biofilm(P0.01).CONCLUSION:Baicalin and baicalein can inhibit the adherence of pseudomonas aeruginosa and the formation of biofilm.
