Abstract
Objective To investigate the effect of baicalin in combination with ceftazidime(CAZ) on Pseudomonas aeruginosa biofilms. Methods Clinical isolates of Pseudomonas aeruginosa were cultured in Luria-Bertani medium-aspirate sputum pipe system to establish biofilm formation.Viable bacterial counts were determined by serial dilution.MICs were measured by doubling dilution. Results Baicalin of 15.65 mg/L could inhibit and destruct biofilm,as well as strengthen antibiotic activity of ceftazidime to Pseudomonas Aeruginose within the biofilm. Conclusion Baicalin can enhance the bactericidal effect of CAZ on Pseudomonas aeruginosa within the biofilm.
