Abstract
Objective To compare the pathology of PRRSV infection with that of co-infection of PRRSV and PCV2.Methods Three 3-week-old pigs were experimentally infected with PRRSV ATCC VR-2332 strain,and two pigs with both PRRSV ATCC VR-2332 and PCV2.Three age-matched pigs were kept as uninoculated controls.Serum was collected before and after inoculation to detect the PRRSV antibody.Two infected pigs and one control pig were killed and necropsied each time,one,two and three weeks after infection.Lung,tonsil,spleen and inguinal lymph node were collected for histopathology.Results Interstitial pneumonia of different degrees was niticed in all inoculated pigs.Conclusion Coinfection with PCV2 would increase the severity of PRRSV-induced pneumonia.
