Abstract

Objective: To explore the effect of Tongxinluo capsule on the serum IL-1β and TNF-α in the patients with type 2 diabetes. Methods: Sixty-six diabetic patients were randomly divided into the two groups: control group and experimental group.Patients in the control group were treated with routine therapy, including glucose and blood pressure control et al.For patients in the experimental group Tongxinluo capsule was added besides routine therapy. The study lasted for 14 weeks.Fasting serum glucose,HbA1c,serum lipids, serum IL-1β and TNF-α were measured before and after treatment. Results: Compared with the control group, levels of serum IL-1β and TNF-α were reduced significantly in the experimental group(P0.05).No significant difference between two groups was observed for HbA1c and serum lipids. Conclusion: Tongxinluo capsule can remarkably lower serum IL-1β and TNF-α in the patients with type 2 diabetes, suggesting that it has the effect of alleviating the inflammatory reaction in vascular vessels.
