Abstract

Objective To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of ureteroscopic holmium:YAG laser lithotripsy for managing ureteral calculil. Methods Ureteroscopic holmium:YAG laser lithotripsy was used in 42 patients with ureteral calculi(proximal in 12 patients, middle in 14 and distal in 16 patients). Results The stone-free rate was 86% in the patients with proximal ureteral calculi,925 in those with middle ureteral calculi and 100% in those with distal ureteral calculi respectively. The complications occurreded in 4.8%(2/42) during the operation. Conclusion Ureteroscopic holmimium:YAG laser lithotripsy is a highly effective and safe method formanaging ureteral calculil.
