Abstract
Yan Yu is a Tang-Poetry adorer and his “modeling-Tang”view on poetry was brought forward to counter the defects of the poems of Jiangxi Poetry Genre, “the four poets in Southern Song Dynasty ” and other poets. His poetry view was pertinent to the reality and established the dominant tendency of the Tang Poetry in the later ages. This paper defines the connotation of Yan Yu's view on poetry in dynasties of Tang and Song, analyses the two concepts of “thought” and “image” and evaluates the profundity and contradiction of Yan Yu's poetry view.
