Abstract

AIM:To evaluate and analyze the accuracy of a new apex locator-ProPex in molar working length measurement.METHODS:Three hundred and eighty three root canals from 116 patients(130 molars) were divide into 3 groups:group A(91 root canals from 30 molars) which needed retreatment because of underfilling;group B(130 root canals from 46 molars) which required intentional pulpectomy because of restorative and fixed prosthetic reasons;group C(162 root canals from 54 molars)which was undergoing chronic apical periodontitis.Working length of each root canal was measured by ProPex,and instrumentation and obturation were performed according to the working length.RESULTS:The accuracy of ProPex in molar working length measurement in the 3 groups was 86.8%,96.2% and 85.8%.CONCLUSION:ProPex is relatively accurate in molar working length measurement.
