Abstract
The exhaust noise is the main source of the vehicle noises.Exhaust muffler is the foremost muffler device to reduce the exhaust noise.In this paper,the noise characteristics analysis of the expansion muffler has been carried out,using the finite element analysis software Hypermesh and sound vibration software Sysnoise for modeling and internal sound field calculation.The results show that the muffler transmission loss amplitude depends on expansion ratio of the muffler,and the expansion chamber length influences the bandwidth of transmission loss band.
