Abstract
The inner field of complicated structural muffler could not be predicted by plane wave theory. In order to analyze the acoustic characteristic of the muffler,it created finite model of the muffler by HYPERMESH,and calculated the transmission loss curve by SYSNOISE. Then,a number of effects were studied,including the number of expansions,the position of extended tube,the positions of rigid baffle in the chamber,and resonance cavity was added in the muffler. According to the original noise of the compressor,optimal combination was obtained,and the acoustic performance of muffler was improved efficiently. At last,through the analysis of the acoustic mode,the reason of valleys in the transmission was acoustic resonance in the muffler.
