Abstract

Liu Yuxi was closely linked to Buddhism throughout his life. His association with monks was characterized by his literary writing, religious theories and his varied religious beliefs. LIU Yuxi believed in Buddhism after relegation in a distinctive way of merging Confucianism with Buddhism which represented the common idea of scholars in the Tang Dynasty. Greatly influenced by Vimalakirtinirdesasutra, LIU Yuxi firmly stuck to his own belief which differed from other scholars.
