Abstract

Objective To assess the value of spiral CT urography (CTU) in the diagnosis of children with congenital urinary abnormities. Methods 45 patients with different children with congenital urinary abnormities underwent both CT plain scanning and kidney parenchymal phase enhanced scanning. The primitive images obtained were transferred to the workstation to get the MPR,MIP,CPR and VR images. Results The children with congenital urinary abnormities diagnosed by CTU in 45cases,including 14 unilateral double pelvis and double ureter,2 bilateral pelviureteric malformations,9 obstruction of ureteropelvic junction,2 renal ectopia,5 congenital renal hypolasia,1 multicystic dysplastic kidney,5 anomalies of renal fusion,2 solirary kidney,2 anomalies of rotation of kidney,1 megaureter,1 retrocaal ureter, and 1 bladder diverticula. Conclusion The spiral CTU is very important in the diagnosis of children with congenital urinary abnormities with fast scanning speed, broad covering, thin slice scanning ability, and there-dimensional images.
