SIMULTANEOUS INTRAVENOUS UROGRAPHY AND COMPUTERIZED TOMOGRAPHY ENHANCEMENT SCANNING IN THE DIAGNOSIS OF CONGENITAL URINARY ABNORMITIES IN CHILDREN

Objective To assess the diagnostic value of simultaneous intravenous urography(IVU)and computerized tomography enhancement scanning(CT)in children with congenital urinary abnormities.Methods Twenty-four children with congenital urinary abnormities were examined by IVU and CT simultaneously.Results The findings were as follows:bilateral pelviureteric malformations(2 cases);right double kidney with megaureter and ureterocele(1);unilateral double pelvis and double ureter(4),unilateral double pelvis with double ectopic ureteral orifice(1);obstruction of ureteropelvic junction(7);megaureter(6)in which(2)with reflux;and pelvic-cavity ectopic kidney,prostatic cyst,and posterior urethral valve,one case each.Conclusion Combined applying IVU with CT enhancement scanning provides a continuous and complete image for a correct diagnosis of urinary congenital abnormities
