Abstract

Being regarded as an outstanding female writer on chinese literature in the 20th century, Xiao Hong kept questioning about the meaning of human existence in her works. She expressed doubt about human's animal-like life, about all cliches and historical conventions, and the despair of women's painful fate. This made Xiao Hong feel lost and lonely in her life. Approaching the end of her life, Xiao Hong was puzzled by the defiance, and was immersed in a sense of nihility.
