Abstract
OBJECTIVE To prepare the buccal adhesive tablets and to investigate the relationship between the adhesive property and drug release rate. METHODS Amlexanox buccal adhesive tablets were prepared using the excipients of CMC-Na,L-HPC and Carbomer at different ratios. The adhesive force was evaluated by the homemade apparatus and the rate of release was determined by the paddle over disk method.RESULTS The formulation of buccal adhesive tablets was optimized as CMC-Na,L-HPC and Carbomer(17∶8∶3).CONCLUSION The adhesive property of the tablets and the release behavior of drug are relevant. Also, the formulation of buccal adhesive tablets is optimized by adjusting the composition.
