On Hu Shi and the higher education

Abstract

The experiences that Hu Shi achieves in American higher educations during his pursuit of the overseas studies help him greatly with his practices of higher education in China.His conceptions of the Chinese higher education feature in the academic independence,which is aimed to strengthen Chinese academic field,culture,and education.Hu poses that universities should change ideas,work out a program for development,and make use of the governmental functions,the purpose of which is set up an independent Chinese educational system.
