Abstract
The nanocrystalline Ni and Ni–Fe coatings were fabricated by pulse electrodeposition process. The corrosion behavior of nanocrystalline nickel and Ni–Fe alloys in 10 %NaOH solution were investigated by soak and electrochemical polarization method respectively. The experimental results indicated that the nanocrystalline Ni with certain Fe content could improve the corrosion resistance. The Ni–7.72 %Fe coating had the best corrosion resistance than the Ni coating. The corrosion resistance of Ni–12.65 %Fe alloy coating was as good as Ni coating. The corrosion resistance of Ni–Fe alloy coatings decreased with the increase of Fe content in the alloy. Passive areas were found in the Tafel curves, so all coatings showed good corrosion resistance.
