Abstract

Objective To investigate the alteration of heart rate variability (HRV) in patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) and patients with coronary heart disease (CHD) and the difference of HRV between the two groups. Method HRV time domain of 25 DM patients,22 CHD patients and 48 healthy aduts as control in 24 hours, daytime and nighttime were determined and analyzed. Results The SDNN, RMSSD, PNN50, SDANN in two groups of patients were lower than those in control group. These parameters had no significant difference between DM group and CHD group. ALL HRV parameters between daytime and nighttime had no difference. Conclusion HRV in DM patients and CHD patients decreased significantly, HRV analysis was perhaps devoid of specification, and the DM patients and CHD patients lost circadian rhythm of autonomic function.
