Abstract

The benzoic acid was directly synthesized from benzaldehyde, using 1∶12 phosphotungstic acid salt piperidine as catalyst, hydrogen peroxide as oxidant. The effects of molar ration, reaction temperature, the amount of catalyst and reaction time were investigated. After filtration and drying, the chemical structure of the reaction product was analyzed by IR and measuring melting point. The synthetic route of benzoic acid was optimally designed by orthogonal experiment, the optimized preparation conditions were given by dealing with the experiment data:reaction temperature is about 75℃,V(benzaldehyde)/V(hydrogen peroxide)=1∶3.0,catalyst amount is 0.4g,reaction time is 5 hours, the local synthetic yield reached 96.7%.
