Abstract

[Objective]To compare the efficacy of ten-day sequential therapy and conventional triple therapy for Helicobacter pylori eradication.[Methods]89 patients with proven Helicobacter pylori infection received ten-day sequential therapy(40 mg of Omeprazole, and 1g of amoxicillin for the first 5 days, followed by 40 mg of Omeprazole,40 mg of Levofloxacin and 500 mg of clarithromycin). In controls,44 patients received conventional triple therapy(40 mg of Omeprazole,500mg Clarithromycin and 1g amoxicillin).[Results]Eradication was evaluated 4?weeks and 6 months later, after completion of treatment. The eradication rate of sequential therapy was 93.0% and 79.6% in experimental group and control group, the difference was significant. The healing rate of ulcer was 81.4% and 61.2%in experimental group and control group, the difference was significant. The ulcer recurrence rate was l2.5% and 33.3% in experimental group and control group, there was significant difference.[Conclusion]Sequential therapy is more effective for eradicating Helicobacter pylori infection than conventional triple therapy.
