Abstract

Objective To study the clinical effects and value of bundles of care in preventing patients with indwelling catheter from associated urinary tract infections. Methods 150 cases of patients with indwelling catheter treated in our hospital from October 2011 to October 2013 were selected and randomly divided into control group and observation group, 75 cases per each group. The control group received routine care, the observation group received bundles of care on the basis of control group. The clinical effect, urinary tract infection rates at different times, indwelling catheter times, bladder irritation disappearing times and the colony culture conditions in the outer end of the catheter of two groups were observed and compared. Results After the treatment, the clinical effective rate of the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group(P 0.05); the urinary tract infection rate at different times of the observation group was significantly lower than that of the control group(P 0.01); the indwelling catheter times and bladder irritation disappearing times of the observation group were significantly shorter than those of the control group(P 0.01); the colony culture conditions in the outer end of the catheter of the observation group were significantly better than those of the control group(P 0.01). Conclusions The application of bundles of care in preventing the associated urinary tract infections in patients with indwelling catheter has high value and effect and effectively reduces the incidence of urinary tract infections, relieves patients' condition and improves the quality of care, which is worthy of promotion.
