Abstract

Objective: To study the effects of microscrew anchorage for adult orthdontic treatment with defect of dentition. Methods: Nine adult patients who were difficult in nomal orthdontic anchorage treatment were divided into three groups.Microscrews were implanted to replace the traditional anchorage.Standard models and lateral cephal-grams were taken at the beginning and the end of the treatment. Results: In group A the molars were average intruded 3.81 mm without unwanted side effects. In group B the microscrews were used to upright and intrude the lower second molars efficiently and in group C the incisors moved 3.02 mm palatelly and the dentition were well-arranged with good profile of the patients. Conclusion: Microscrew implant is an effective anchorage used in adults with defect of dentition to intrude the molars, uprighting the molar and retracting the anterior teeth.
