Abstract
Objective To evaluate the efficiency of microscrew implant for orthodontic anchorage in patients with maxillary protrusion,and summerize the clinical experience.Methods 24 patients with maxillary protrusion were divided into two groups randomly with 12 patients in each group,whose ages ranged from 12 to 25 years.All patients were treated with extraction.Microscrew implant was used in the cases of experimental group as orthodontic anchorage,and traditional anchorage composed of extraoral arch and Nance arch was used in the control cases.The cephalometric films before and after treatment were measured and compared.Results In the experimental group,the upper first molar had no significant changes,while in the control group,the upper first molar moved 3.7mm mesially.There were significant differences between the two groups.Conclusion Microscrew implants could be used as an efficient method to relieve maxillary protrusion with no loss of molar anchorage.This kind of implant anchorage can replace traditional anchorage composed of extraoral arch and Nance arch.
