Abstract

Objective:To explore the cause of misdiagnosis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma and to increase the correct diagnosis rate in early stage.Methods:Data of 165 cases of nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC) were analyzed from 1997 to 2006 and to investigate the cause of misdiagnosis.Results:Total of 81 cases of NPC were misdiagnosed in 165 cases and the misdiagnosis rate was 49.1%.The misdiagnosis period was 8.8±4.2 months.Conclusion:The misdiagnosis rate of NPC is high,because of short of knowledge of NPC by patients and doctors.
