Abstract

Objective:To study the cause of nasopharyngeal carcinoma, and to reduce the misdiagnosis rate, increase the correct diagnosis rate in early stage and improve its curative effect.Method:To investigate the cause of misdiagnosis,131 cases of nasopharyngeal carcinoma were analyzed retrospectively.Result:In 131 cases of nasopharyngeal carcinoma, including 58 cases misdiagnosed and the misdiagnosis rate was 44.3%,and involved internal medicine Department,Ophthalmologic Department,Surgical Department,Neurological Department,ENT Department, and general practitioner. Conclusion:The main causes of misdiagnosis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma wase as follows:typical primary symptoms, recessive anatomical site, and for sub-mucous type, and difficult to get tumor tissues by biopsy. Moreover, insufficient understanding of this disease and without efficient screen test also results in misdiagnosis.
