Abstract

Objective To investigate the therapeutic effects of propafenone and verapamil in the treatment of paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (PST).Methods Eighty PST patients who received treatment in our hospital from March 2009 to March 2011 were included in the study. These patients were equally divided into experimental group and control group using a random number table. The experimental group received propafenone, while the control group received verapamil. Results After treatment, the experimental group had a significantly higher response rate than the control group (90% vs 82.5%, P0.05); in addition, the experimental group had a significantly lower incidence rate of adverse events than the control group (7.5% vs 17.5%, P0.05).Conclusion Propafenone has a better therapeutic effect than verapamil in the treatment of PST.
