Therapeutic effect of stellate ganglion block with neurotropin in treatment of postherpetic neuralgia in 40 patients

Abstract

AIM To observe the efficacy and adverse drug reactions of stellate ganglion block(SGB) with neurotropin intervention in the residual post-herpetic neuralgia(PHN).METHODS Seventy-four patients(aged 55-87 years)suffering from residual PHN were selected and divided into two groups randomly,and received SGB respectivelly with neurotropin and 1% lidocaine.Before and 15 min after SGB,BP and HR were observed.The clinical effect was evaluated before and after treatment by visual analogue scale(VAS)and quality of sleep(QS).RESULTS VAS and QS were 8.84±0.66 and 3.78±0.31 before treatment,and 1.11±0.38 and 0.22±0.13 after treatment in treatment group.There were significant differences(P0.01).CONCLUSION The clinical effect of SGB with neurotropin is efficient on relief of PHN and improvement of quality of sleep.This therapy is safe for patients.
