Treatment efficacy of nerve block combined with neurotropin in the post-herpetic neuralgia

Objective To observe the efficacy of cervical plexus,brachial plexus,or epidural nerve block combined with neurotropin in the post-herpetic neuralgia(PHN).Methods Fifty-six patients suffering from PHN were selected.The skin lesion areas of the patients were located at C_4-L_5.The patients were randomly divided into two groups: groupⅠ(n=28) 0.375%-0.2% ropivacain nerve block combined with neurotropin,groupⅡ(n=28) 0.375%-0.2% ropivacain nerve block.The clinic effect was evaluated before and after treatment by visual analogue scale(VAS) and improvement of symptoms of neuropathy.Results VAS were 9.05±0.45 and 9.02±0.52 respectively before treatment.The scores of VAS on one week,two weeks,three weeks after treatment were 3.82±0.25~(**),3.09±0.46~(**),1.56±0.53~(**#) and 4.68±0.42~(**),4.13±0.39~(**),3.75±0.66~(**) respectively.There were significant differences respectively in VAS after treatment.Conclusion The clinic effect of nerve block combined with neurotropin is efficient on relief of PHN and improvement of symptoms of neuropathy.This therapy is safe for patient.
