Abstract

Objective To investigate the relationship between the 1 058 situs of exon 17th polymorphism of insulin receptor(INSR) gene and old age cerebral infarction. Methods The exon polymorphism of insulin receptor gene were demonstrated by PCR -restriction enzyme digestion method in 150 cases of cerebral infarction(CI group) and 80 healthy controls(control group). Results T allel frequencies in CI group and subjects with insulin resistance were significantly higher than that in the control group. No significant differences of T allel frequencies were observed in the cases with non-insulin resistance and the control group. Conclusion The exon 17th polymorphism of INSR gene is closely elated to CI. The INSR gene play a role in the pathogenesis of CI probably through insulin resistance.
